Today's promise: God has great rewards for those who remain faithful
God Rewards Holy People
"All who are victorious will become pillars in the Temple of my God, and they will never have to leave it. And I will write my God's name on them, and they will be citizens in the city of my God — the New Jerusalem that comes down from heaven from my God."
Revelation 3:12 NLT
It is time to judge the dead and reward Your servants. You will reward Your prophets and Your holy people, all who fear Your name, from the least to the greatest.
Revelation 11:18 NLT
About this week's promise:
Throughout the Bible, we see God giving rewards to His people according to what they deserve. In the Old Testament, obedience to God often brought rewards in this life (Deut. 28).
But obedience and immediate reward are not always linked. If they were, good people would always be rich, and suffering would always be a sign of sin. If we were quickly rewarded for every faithful deed, we would soon think we were pretty good people! Before long, we would be doing good deeds for purely selfish reasons.
While it is true that God will reward us for our earthly deeds (Rev 20:12), our greatest reward is eternal life in His presence.
