The Prize
When you have an athletic event coming up to compete in,
it doesn’t matter what the sport is, you practice self-control.
You excel as you exercise and you push the boundaries of
your physical capabilities. You do this so you can win a prize.
But you have to keep in mind that this prize will fade away.
This prize is an earthly prize that will last for only a short
period of time.
Now with this same frame of mind, should you not give the
same emphasis to your spiritual maturity? Your spiritual prize
is eternal and will not fade away but will last forever.
Let us keep in mind 1 Corinthians 9:25. The same time and
devotion you put into winning an earthly prize you should
put more time into winning your spiritual prize to make it
into God’s Kingdom.
God is the rewarder of your spiritual prize.
This prize is eternal life in heaven.
